The need for in-season pest management in row crops has increased recently due to the rise of pest resistance to traits and the increasing demand for non-GMO. Many economically destructive insects in row crops migrate during the growing season. This migratory behavior is difficult to predict and can vary greatly from year to year and from region to region. In order to address this issue, Spensa has deployed over 500 Z-Traps throughout the corn belt providing growers throughout the region near real-time insect data. Spensa’s Z-Trap Network not only automatically monitors insect populations but also has the potential to accurately forecast migration patterns of these insect pests. The presentation will share the results of the current Z-Trap Network and discuss how it can help manage insects more effectively and proactively.
