The real value of any data set comes from the interpretation of the data and understanding of what is happening on the ground.  Remote sensed data, regardless of platform, still needs to be ground truthed.  Just because you have an image doesn’t mean that it will be valuable.  The understanding of this is key to managing expectations from you and those of your grower.

John is a precision ag specialist for Crop Quest based out of Dodge City, Kansas. He has been working for Crop Quest for five years. John manages the remote sensing program utilized by Crop Quest. He has his Part 107 Certificate to do commercial UAV operations when needed. John also helps provide support for managing and utilizing yield, EC/EM, grid/soil sampling data, and any other data types used to help agronomists and producers better manage their fields.
